Artec Point & Point II Reflective Targets

Find 3 mm and 6 mm positioning markers for Artec Point metrology scanning modes.

Scanner application or reference target photo for Artec handheld laser metrology

Quick answer: The original Artec Point manual specifies 6 mm retro-reflective markers for blue-light fast scanning and 3 mm markers for fine scanning. Point II is also a target-based system, but its software and target-size settings should be checked independently.

Use the model-specific reference table below for details. A matching marker diameter does not by itself certify scanner compatibility.

Which format is right for my application?

Original Point fast mode

The user manual lists 6 mm reflective markers for blue-light fast scanning.

Original Point fine mode

The manual lists 3 mm reflective markers for fine scanning.

Point II

Confirm its current software settings; do not assume every original Point target rule carries over.

Adhesive and reuse

For 6 mm jobs, light adhesive or magnetic markers may be useful when supported.

Do you need scanning spray, too?

Reference markers support positioning and scan alignment. ATTBLIME matting spray helps capture optically challenging surfaces. Keep markers clear of overspray so the scanner can recognize them.

Frequently asked questions

Can Artec Point use 3 mm markers?

Yes. The original Point manual lists 3 mm references for fine scanning mode and 6 mm for fast mode.

Does Point II use exactly the same targets?

Point II is target-based, but confirm its current recognition settings and user manual instead of assuming all original Point specifications apply.

Why does size vary by mode?

Different optical scanning modes and working distances affect target recognition; smaller dots can help with small geometry.

Do I need spray if using dots?

Not always. Dots support positioning; matting spray addresses difficult surface finishes.

Are Messpunkte dots Artec OEM?

No. They're aftermarket reference markers and must be verified for optical compatibility.
