Quick answer: FreeScan UE Pro2 uses 6 mm markers by default and supports selectable diameters, but its high-speed mode cannot recognize 3 mm dots. FreeScan Combo/Combo+ supports 3 mm minimum in laser mode and 6 mm minimum in infrared mode. Match your specific scanner's software mode.

Frequently asked questions
Will my UE Pro2 recognize 3 mm markers?
Not in high-speed scanning mode. Other modes allow marker-size selection, including 3 mm.
Should I use 6 mm for infrared mode on FreeScan Combo?
The manufacturer's instructions set a minimum of 6 mm for infrared scanning.
How should I place targets?
Use an irregular pattern with enough markers visible through the scan, and avoid highly curved, damaged or oily placements.
Do all SHINING 3D scanners require dots?
